George Winfield was born in 1897 the son of Charles a coal miner hewer, Charles Winfield was born in 1870 at Stanton by Dale and married Emma Jane Webster in 1905 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, In 1911 the family are living at Park Hill, Awsworh Charles 41 yrs a coal miner is living with his wife Emma Jane Winfield and his son George 14 yrs and daughter Mabel Emma 13 yrs and 6 step children.

Military History

Private George Winfield enlisted at Derby whilst residing at Awsworth, he died between 30th June and 1st July 1918 and is buried at Niedwezwehren Cemetery (Germany) 8.C.17
