Family History

Lewis Parry was born in 1896 the son of the late William a farm labourer and Charlotte Parry née Wood of Awsworth Nottinghamshire. William Parry was born in 1859 at East Markham, he died in 1899 aged 42 yrs Charlotte Wood was born in 1870 at Radford, married on 20th October 1889 at East Markham, they had the following children, Samuel b1890, Henry b1891,William b1893 and Florence Jane b1898 all were born in Awsworth

Military History

Private Lewis Parry served with the 1st battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment he died of wounds on 6th July 1915 and is buried at Trois Arbres Cemetery grave reference 2.Q.36

Extra Information

his brother Sapper Henry Parry enlisted at Ilkeston, he initially served with the service number 17697 in the Sherwood Foresters regiment, he landed in France on 3rd June 1915. He died of gas poisoning on 4th February 1916 whilst serving with the 185th Tunnelling Company, Royal Engineers, he is buried in Becourt Military Cemetery 1.J.9
