John Frederick Beeby was the son of Charles Beeby, a brewers labourer and the late Emma Beeby née Burnham of Abbott Street, Awsworth. His father Charles was born in 1863 in Beeston and his mother Emma Burnham was born in 1867 in Ruddington, they were married in 1885 their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration District, they went on to have the following children all of whom were born in Beeston, Mable b1889, Charles b1894, John b1896 and Lucy b1899. His mother Emma died in 1906 in Nottingham she was 39 yrs of age. In the 1911 census John 15 yrs single and a coal miner is a boarder , he is living at Jubilee Street, Kimberley, he is boarding with his married sister Mabel Stevens 23 yrs and her husband Herbert 29 yrs a coal miner and their children also at the address and shown as a visitor is their father Charles 48 yrs a widow and brewers labourer.
Driver John Frederick Beeby, enlisted on 9th January 1915 at Ilkeston, he gave his age as 19 yrs and 5 days, his occupation was a collier and his father Charles as his next of kin. He served with the 124th Brigade H.Q. Royal Field Artillery. He landed in France on 30th July 1915 and was killed in action on 6th October 1918 and is buried in Ribecourt Railway Cemetery. D.7
