George William Marriott was born in South Elmsall, he married Annie Margaret Lovett (born 5th November 1891 at Islington, London ) in 1911 at Mansfield. They went on to have a daughter Margaret Evelyn Marriott born 11th April 1913. Commencing 3rd February 1916 his widow was awarded a pension of 15 shillings. His widow re married on 5th August 1916 to Harold Hart.
Private George William Marriott (served as William Marriott) enlisted at Doncaster, he served with the 6th battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. He died of wounds on 1st August 1915 at 10th stationary hospital at St Omer and is buried at Longuenesse (St Omer) Souvenir Cemetery, France.
