George Edward Andrews was born in 1899 he was the son of Henry a coal miner and Selina Andrews née Hall of 113 Sherwood Street, Mansfield Woodhouse. Henry was born in 1875 at Stadish Lancashire, Selina Hall was born in 1877 at Hoyland, Yorkshire, they were maried in 1898 their marriage was recorded in the Barnsley registration district, they had 3 further children, Clifton b1904 Shirebrook, Lawrence b1906 Mansfield Woodhouse and Melbourne b1909 Yorkshire. In 1911 the family lived at 1 Milner Street, Platts Common, Barnsley Henry is 36 yrs and a coal miner he is living with his wife Selina 34 yrs and their 4 children.

Military History

Private George Edward Andrews enlisted at Clipstone Camp, Mansfield, he served with the 2/5th battalion York & Lancaster Regiment. He was killed in action on 7th May 1917 having no know grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
