Lewis Miller Richardson was born in 1887 baptised on 13th June 1886 at Pleasley parish church he was the son of William a coal miner and Louisa Richardson née Miller of Ollerton. William was born in 1853 at Everton, Nottinghamshire, Louisa Miller was born in 1850 at Pleasley, they were married in 1871 their marriage was recorded in the Mansfield registration district, they had 8 children. Lewis married Jemima Chantry, they were married on 26th June 1907 at Pleasley they had one child Charles C born and died before 1911 , they also had Jack, born 4th December 1912 and Margery born 28th November 1915 they lived at 49 Bagshaw Street, Plealsey In 1911 Lewis was living at Bagshaw Street, Pleasley, he is 24 yrs and a butcher he is living with his wife Jemima 23 yrs. Commencing 7th January 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 22 shillings and 11 pence. Jemima married William Morris in 1923 and moved 147 Carlisle Street East, Sheffield.

Military History

Private Lewis Miller Richardson enlisted at Mansfield, he initially served with the service number 57818 in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He later transferred to the Machine Gun Corps and died on 10th April 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arrs Memorial.
