George Harry Roberts was born in 1879 at Mansfield, George married Mary Ann Bansor, on 26th May 1914 they had a son Fred, born 10th May 1916, they lived at 29 Station Street, Mansfield. Mary was awarded a pension of 20s & 5d a week commencing 28th April 1919.

Military History

Private George Harry Roberts attested on 11th December 1915 at Mansfield, giving his age as 34 yrs he was posted to the reserves. He was mobilised on 8th December 1917 and posted to the Sherwood Foresters with the service number 98184 and later posted to the Leicestershire Regiment. He landed in France on 31st March 1918 and died of wounds on 30th September 1918 and is buried at Buried in Terlincthun British Cemetery
