Family History

William Henry Bunting was baptised on 30th March 1888 at the parish church at Staveley, Derbyshire, he was only son of William a town hall caretaker and Annie Bunting née Harriman of 27 Fletcher Street, Heanor. His father William was born in 1858 at Barrow Hill, Derbyshire, his mother Annie Harriman was born in 1862 at Heanor, they were married on 7th June 1884 at Blackwell, they had 2 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood. In the 1911 census the family were living at the Town Hall, Heanor where William 53 yrs is the caretaker, he is living with his wife Annie 49 yrs and their son William Henry 23 yrs a grocers assistant, also living with the family is John Harriman 74 yrs a widow and is the father in law.

Military History

Private William Henry Bunting enlisted at Nottingham, whilst living at Mansfield, he served with the 9th battalion Royal Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 7th July 1916 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
