Employment, Education or Hobbies Civil Servant in Fiji. Sydney had gone to Fiji on 04/06/1914, his brother Alfred was already there, working has a builder. Alfred spent his whole adult life there, dying at the age of 95. After the war Sydney's mother and 2 of his sisters moved to Fiji as well. Sydney was an early member of the Boy Scout movement in Mansfield. Once he reached Fiji he started a boy scout group. He is supposed to have met Baden Powell just before he left for Fiji and Baden Powell asked him to start the Boy Scout Movement in Fiji.
