Family History

Fred Raper Brown was born in 1881 at Leeds, he was the son of George Cranston Brown a commissioning agent and the late Hannah Jane Brown née Brown of 21 Westbourne Ave, Hunslett, Leeds George Cranston was born in 1841 at Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire, Hannah Jane Brown was born in 1841 at Leeds she died in 1909 at Leeds she was 67 yrs of age, they were married on 21st February 1864 at St Peters Church, Leeds, they went on to have 8 children. In 1911 his widowed father George Cranston Brown 69 yrs a commissioning agent is living at 21 Westbourne Ave, Hunslett, Leeds with two of his unmarried daughters. Fred Raper married Beatrice Paul (born 29th June 1882) on 5th August 1905 at St Lukes, Holbeck, Leeds, they lived at 2 Ellis Place, Lodge Lane, Beeston Hill, Leeds, they went on to have the following children, Lilian born 9th June 1906 and Gertrude born 14th August 1910. In 1911 the family are living at 2 Ellis Place, Lodge Lane, Beeston Hill, Lees, Frank Raper 30 yrs is a bespoke tailor he is living with his wife Beatrice 28 yrs and their two daughters Lilian 4 yrs and Gertrude 7 months old. Commencing 7th January 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 22 shillings and 11 pence a week.

Military History

Private Frank Raper Brown enlisted at Leeds, he served with the 18th battalion West Yorkshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 29th June 1917. he is buried at St Catherine British Cemetery, France.
