Fontenay-Le-Pesnal cemetery contains the graves of men who died fighting to the west and south-west of Caen durin June and July 1944.
The 7th bn landed in Normandy on the 27th June 1944 and took part in the battles for Caen and Mont Pincon. Operation Bluecoat 30/7-7/8/1944 was to secure the road junction of Vire and the high ground of Mont Pincon.
