Charles Richard Collier was born in 1895 he was the son of William Robert the under-manager at Bolsover colliery. and Maria Ellen Collier née Littlefair of The Villas, Carr Vale, Bolsover. William Robert was born in 1868 at Middlesex, Mary Ellen Littlefair was born in 1870 at Osmotherley they were married on 30th December 1891 at Osmotherley, they had a further child James William born 1893 at Osmotherley. In 1911 the family are living at The Villas, Bolsover William Robert 43 yrs is a colliery under manager, he is living with his wife Mary Ellen 41 yrs and their 2 children, James William 18 yrs a coal miner and Charles Richard 16 yrs a coal miner

Military History

Sergeant Charles Richard Collier enlisted at Bolsover whilst residing at Chesterfield , he served with the 24th battalion Royal Fusiliers, He landed in France on 15th November 1915 and was killed in action on 10th September 1917 and is buried at Cambrin Military Cemetery.
