Thomas Douglas Wilson was born in 1896 he was the son of William a colliery banksman and Florence Wilson née Richards and the brother of William Richard, James, Annie, Joseph Simpkin, Florence, Edward and Mary Baker Wilson. William Wilson was born in 1853 at Sutton in Ashfield, Florence Richards was born in 1867 at Hucknall under Huthwaite, they were married on 16th August 1888 at Sutton in Ashfield, they had 9 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family lived on Forest Street Sutton in Ashfield, William 58 yrs is a colliery banksman, he is living with his wife Florence 44 yrs and their 8 children, Thomas Douglas is 15 yrs and is working for a green grocer.

Military History

Private Thomas Douglas Wilson enlisted at Sutton in Ashfield, he served with the 25th battalion Northumberland Fusiliers. He was killed in action on 26th October 1916 and is buried at Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery, Armentieres, France.
