James John Peet was born in 1898 the son Of James William a house painter and Edith Mary Peet née Crinage of 17, Dunstan St., Netherfield, Nottingham. James William was born in 1874 at Nottingham, Edith Mary Crinage was born 1876 at Basford, married on 23rd May 1897 at St Judes Church, Mapperley they went on to have 6 children, 1 died in infancy or early childhood, In 1911 the family are living at 7 Wainsman Terrace, Netherfield James William 37 yrs is a house painter living with his wife and 5 children, James John 12 yrs is a scholar.

Military History

Private James John Peet enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Netherfield, serving with the 17t battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment he was killed in action on 3rd September 1916 and is buried at Serre Road Cemetery No.1
