Family History

Born 1896, William was one of six children born to William and Emily Gale. William senior was a plate layer working on the railways. By 1911 William junior had left school and was working as a chair maker at the local furniture factory. In 1901 the family were living at No 65 Deabill Street, Netherfield then by 1911 they had moved to No 8 Traffic Terrace, Netherfield. By the time of William junior's death the family had moved again to No 14, Godfrey St., Netherfield, Nottingham.

Military History

Originally Private 4325 he then became Private 306406 with the Sherwood Foresters. He died of his wounds and is buried Noeux-les-Mines communal Cemetery, in the Pas de Calais region of France. He was eligible for the British and Victory medals
