Family History

Harry Taylor wqas born in 1891 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late John Taylor a lace maker and Mary Ann Taylor née Nicholls of 57 Bute Avenue, Lenton, Nottingham. His father John was born in 1861 at Radford, he died in 1906 aged 45 yrs, his mother Mary Ann Nicholls was born in 1849 at Nottingham, they were married on 7th May 1868 at Lenton parish church, they went on to have 11 children,. In the 1911 census his widowed mother Mary Ann 62 yrs is living at 57 Bute Avenue, Lenton she is living with her children, Ada 33 yrs a pattern hand, John Alfred 22 yrs a lace warehouseman and Harry 20 yrs a clerk. Harry married Alma Margaret Schepeus (born 3rd July 1894) in 1914 at Nottingham, they had a son John born 3rd September 1915, they lived at 13 Rectory Road, West Bridgford. Commencing 14th October 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence a week.

Military History

Private Harry Taylor enlisted at Ilkeston Derbyshire. (His unit was known as the Tyneside Pioneers) he died of wounds on 28th March 1918 and is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, France.
