Military History

Private Albert Cooke enlisted at Rotherham on 28th August 1914 giving his age as 22 yrs and 3 months and his occupation as that of a collier, he initially served with the service number 12795 in The York & Lancaster Regiment he landed in France on 13th July 1915. He transferred to the Durham Light Infantry on 25th September 1917. he died of wounds on 22nd April 1918 and is buried at Mendinghem Military Cemetery
