Family History

John Morley was born in 1895 the son of Frederick a glue maker and Agnes Morley née Smith and the brother of Joseph, James and Lily Morley of 10 Cursham Street Sutton in Ashfield Nottinghamshire. Frederick was born in 1855 at Sutton in Ashfield, Agnes Smith was born in 1862 at Selston, married in 1892 their marriage was recorded at the Mansfield registration district, they went on to have 9 children sadly 4 died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family are living at 10 Cusham Street, Sutton in Ashfield, Fred 52 yrs is a glue maker, he is living with is wife Agnes 50 yrs and their children.

Military History

Private John Morley enlisted at Sutton in Ashfield, he was killed in action on 17th July 1916, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
