Family History

John William Horton was born in 1886 the son of William a colliery bricklayer and Sarah Horton (née Mellors. William James was born in 1863 at St Neots, Huntingdonshire and died in 1918. Sarah Mellors was born in 1864 at Blyth, Northumberland. Married in 1883 at Nottingham, they had the following children - George Henry b.1884 Bulwell, John William b.1886 Bulwell, Sarah Jane b.1888 Nottingham, Ann b.1890 Bulwell and Leonard b.1894 Arnold. In 1911, they lived at 60, Bradford Street, Bulwell, Nottingham. George Henry was an unemployed gardener, Sarah a cane worker and Leonard a brewery drayman. John William married Hilda Harrison (born 1st November 1889 Swinton, Yorkshire) in 1909 at Nottingham. In 1911, they lived at 265, Roman Terrace, Mexborough. Their son Harold was born 2nd March 1917. With effect from 31st January 1918, Hilda was awarded a weekly pension of 21s/3d.
