Family History

Albert Cramton was born on Station Road Sutton in Ashfield in 1897 the son of John a flower mill waggoner and Mary Ann Crampton née Kirk of Station Road, Sutton in Ashfield and the brother of John William, Sam, Frank, Mary Jane Elizabeth, Lilian and Cecil Reginald Crampton. John was born in 1869 at Kelham, Mary Ann Kirk was born in 1872 at Codnor, she died in 1915 aged 33 yrs married on 23rd August 1892 at Codnor they went on to have 8 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood, In 1911 the family lived on Station Road, Sutton in Ashfield.

Military History

Albert Crampton enlisted at Sutton in Ashfield and initially served with number 1927 in the Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment). He later transferred to 10th Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment. He died of wounds on 5th December 1916 and is buried at St Sever Cemetery Extension Rouen Grave Reference: O III G 6
