John Francis Baily

John Francis Baily was born in 1889 at Skellingthorpe, Lincolnshire and was the son of the late John Lauder Baily a pawnbroker and Elizabeth Ann Baily née Shaw of 10 Crown Street, Newark. His father John Lauder was born in 1861 at Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, his mother Elizabeth Ann Shaw was born in 1866 at Boston, Lincolnshire and were married in 1888, their marriage was recorded at the North Hykeham Registration District, they went on to have 8 children sadly one was to die in infancy their surviving children were John Francis b1889 Skellingthorpe, Hugh b1892 Newark, Gerald b1893 Lincoln, Kathleen b1896 Lincoln, Jessie b1898 Lincoln, Marjorie b1899 Lincoln and Christine b1903 Lincoln. In the 1911 census the family are living at 10 Crown Street, Newark and are shown as John Baily 50 yrs a pawn broker, he is living with his wife Elizabeth 44 yrs and their children, John 21 yrs a shop assistant in a pawn brokers, Hugh 19 yrs a clerk in a corn merchants, Gerald 18 yrs a shop assistant in a pawn brokers, Jessie 13 yrs a scholar, Marjorie 13 yrs a scholar and Christine 8 yrs a scholar John Francis married his wife Winifred Parker on 12th February 1916 at Newark they lived at of 76, Hatton Gardens, Newark. Following his death his widow Winfred was awarded a pension of 15 shillings a week
