Stuart Grundy Mclean was born in 1892 in Nottingham and was the son of Thomas an assistant football trainer and Annie McLean née Grundy. His father Thomas was born in Sutton Dumbartonshire and his mother Annie Grundy was born in 1867 in Nottingham, they were married in 1891 in Nottingham, they also had a further son Donald Grundy Mclean born 1893 in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at Villa Leven, 24 Albert Road Sherwin Road Lenton Nottingham and are shown as Thomas Mclean 44 yrs an assistant football trainer, he is living with his wife Annie 44 yrs and their 2 children Stuart Grundy 18 yrs an insurance clerk and Donald Grundy 17 yrs an insurance clerk.

Military History

Gunner Stuart Grundy Maclean enlisted at Nottingham, he served with D battery, 47th brigade Royal Field Artillery, he was killed in action on 22nd August 1917 , having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot memorial
