Family History

William Henry Bean was born in 1885 the son of George a coal miner hewer and the late Eliza Bean née Limb of 22 Carpet Row, Hardwick Street, Sutton in Ashfield. George was born in 1864, Eliza Limb was born in 1866 both were born at Sutton in Ashfield, she died in 1918 aged 35 yrs, married in 1884 at Mansfield they had the following children additional children, Rebecca b1886 and George Edward b1888. William Henry married Ada Goodall (born 22nd February 1883) in 1903 at Mansfield they had the following children George Edward b1904, Lillian b1905, Edith b1906, Grace Aliceb1908, Edwin b1909 ,Irene b1910 and William Henry b1913. In 1911 the family lived at 6 Sandy's Row Sutton in Ashfield Nottinghamshire. On 19th December 1917 his widow Ada was awarded a pension of 36 shillings and 3 pence a week.

Military History

Lance Corporal William Henry Bean served with the 4th battalion Cameronians, he died accidentally on 23rd May 1917 whilst in Scotland, he was given a full military burial in his home town of Sutton in Ashfield.
