He was the son of Charles George (who served with the Sherwood Foresters during the Great War) and Elizabeth Widdison and the brother of Annie Elizabeth, Kathleen Mary and John Clive Henry Widdison of 1 Cavendish Street, Mansfield.

Military History

Enlisted 02/06/1913 at Mansfield aged 17 years and 3 months. He stood 5ft 3 & half inches tall. He landed in France on 2nd March 1915 On leave to England from 28/02/1918 to 16/03/1918 and re-joined his unit 16th March 1918 and was killed on 26th March 1918. He was buried in Courcelette British Cemetery, Somme, France grave reference II.A.2

Extra Information

In 1915 he was treated for synovitis (painful swelling to joint) to the knee and boils on his back. The treatment included taking arsenic given orally.
