He was the son of Thomas and Henrietta (later Harris) Ward of 11 Anthony Terrace Hawthorn Street Nottingham.
Albert Ward served with the 2nd Canadian Mounted Rifles, he was killed in action on 2nd June 1916. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial Enlisted at Vernon, British Columbia, on 21st July 1915, he arrived in England on 10th April 1916; joining his unit in the field on 26th May 1916. His service record states that death took place between 2nd and 5th June 1916.
Nottingham Evening Post obituary (abridged), 21 June 1916: 'Ward. Killed in action June 1916, Private Albert Ward, Canadians. Brother, Ernest, and Ada.'
