Family History

Wilfrid Edmund was born in 1888 the son of Edmond a steel fitter and Ann Eliza Millership née Hicking of 6 Portland Street Sutton-In-Ashfield Nottinghamshire. Edmond was born in 1857 at West Bromwich, Ann Eliza Hicking was born in 1859 at Codnor, married in 1882 at Belper they went on to have 8 children, sadly two died in infancy or early childhood, In 1911 his mother Ann Eliza is living at 6 Portland Street, Sutton-In-Ashfield she is 52 years head of the family , she is living with 4 of her children. In 1911 Wilfrid Edmund has left the family home, he is a boarder living at 153 Cemetery Road, East Kirkby, he is 23 yrs of age and a railway locomotive fireman. Wilfrid emigrated to Canada.

Military History

Sapper Wilfird Edmund Millership enlisted on 29th September 1915 at Calgary, Canada, giving his age as 27 yrs and 7 months, he was a railway fireman. he served with the 3rd Railway Battalion, Canadian Railway Troops (Army) and sailed to England from Halifax on 20th May 1916. He landed at Boulogne, France on 22nd March 1917 and was killed in action on 22nd April 1917 and is buried at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Belgium.
