Family History

Leslie Dale Marchbank was born in 1894 the son of Benjamin Thomas a chartered accountant and Phoebe (Alice) Marchbank née Dale of 111 Burford Road Forest Fields Nottingham. Benjamin was born in 1863 at Burnley, Phoebe Dale was born in 1870 at Bossall, Yorkshire, they were married in 1892 at Nottingham, they had two further children, Winifred b1901 and Bernard Jasper b1904. In 1911 the family were living at 92 Burford Road, Forest Fields, Benjamin Thomas is 48 yrs of age and a chartered accountant he is living with his wife Phoebe 41 yrs and their two children, Winifred 10 yrs and Bernard 7 yrs. In 1911 Leslie Dale emigrated to Canada, he was 15 yrs of age. Leslie Dale Marchbank probate was proved at Nottingham (with will) on 17th September 1918, it gave his address as 111 Burford Road, Nottingham, a lance Corporal in H.M. Army he died 28th April 1918 in France, his effects of £112, 5 shillings and 7 pence were left to Thomas Marchbank, corporate accountant.

Military History

Lance Corporal Leslie Dale Marchbank enlisted on 7th May 1915 in Canada where he was a farmer, he served with the Fort Gary Horse, Canadian Cavalry. He was wounded on 2nd April 1918 and died on 28th April 1918. He is buried at St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen
