Walter Kirk was born on 11th July 1892 and was the 26 year-old son of James Prior Kirk an author of novels and Lily Kirk, of The Banks, Bingham, Nottinghamshire. His father was born in 1851 in Nottinghamshire and his mother Lily was born in 1866 in Uppingham , they went on to marry in Uppingham in 1886 and had the following children , Margaret b1890 Ratcliffe, Dorothy b1891 and Walter b1892 Bingham. In the 1901 census the family are living at the Banks at Bingham

Military History

Private Walter Kirk, 78th Canadian Infantry Battalion, died of wounds on 17th August 1918. He had been severely wounded, a gunshot wound to the throat on 9th August 1918. He was buried in Mont Huon Military Cemetery, Le Treport,
