Family History

John Frederick Herod (junior) was born in 1900 he was the son of John Frederick (senior) a postman and Ada Herod née Glover and the brother of Gladys Hilda, Walter and Maurice Hector Herod. John Frederick (senior) was born in 1878 at Sneinton, Ada Glover was born in 1878 also at Sneinton, she died in 1907 aged 29 yrs, they were married on 9th April 1898 at St Leodegarius Church Basford, In 1901 they lived at 4 Deligne Street New Radford Nottingham. He emigrated to Canada before the outbreak of the 'Great War'

Military History

Private John Frederick Herod enlisted in Canada, he served with the Canadian Cyclist Corps he died on 18th November 1918 and is buried at Etaples Military Cemetery.

Extra Information

His brother Maurice Hector Herod served in the Royal Navy during the second world war, he was killed in action on 24th May 1914 whilst serving aboard HMS Hood during her action with the Bismark.
