Family History

Lawrence Albert Hardy was born in 1889 at Horninglow, Staffordshire, he was the son of THE LATE William a joiner and Annie Hardy née Bennett of 24 Ladysmith Street, Colwick Road, Nottingham. His father William was born in 1854 at Bulwell, he died in 1906 aged 48 yrs , his mother Annie Bennett was born in 1853 at Hollington, Derbyshire they were married in 1875 their marriage was recorded in the Burton Upon Trent, registration district, they went on to have 8 children, sadly two were to die in infancy or early childhood, In the 1911 census his widowed mother is living at 10 Orchard Street, Mansfield, she is shown AS Annie Hardy 58 yrs a widow, she is living with two of her children Percy William 32 yrs a colliery store keeper and Horace Edwin 28 yrs a railway labourer.

Military History

Corporal Lawrence Albert Hardy enlisted in Canada , he served wit the24th battalion Candian Infantry, he was killed in action on 28th August 1918 and is buried at Quebec Cemetery, Cherisy, France.
