Herbert Spray Fisher was born in 1888 at Nottingham he was the son of William Thomas a commercial traveller (hosiery) and Clara Fisher née Spray 28 Mapperley Road, Nottingham. William Thomas was born in 1858, Clara Spray was born in 1863 both were born in Nottingham, married in 1886 at Nottingham they had two further children, Marjorie b1893 Nottingham and Nora b1901 Canada. In 1911 the family are living at Winola, Villers Road, Woodthorpe, Nottingham William Thomas 53 yrs is a commercial traveller, he is living with his wife Clara 48 yrs and their two daughters. Herbert Spray married his wife Ethel, they lived in Alliance, Alberta Canada Herbert was living in Canada when he enlisted into the Canadian Army in 1915.

Military History

Private Herbert Spray Fisher enlisted on 17th August 1915 at Edmonton, Canada he was 27 yrs of age and a rancher. He served with the 49th battalion Canadian Infantry, he was killed in action on 30th September 1918 and is buried at Etaples Military Cemetery.
