Thomas was the son of George a farmer and Maria Chappell of North Leverton. In 1911 George and Maria were living in North leverton with three of their nine children. Thomas was not at the address; he had moved out presumably to emigate to Canada.

Also George, her dearly beloved husband who died January 8th 1939 aged (-) years. Reunited. Also Thomas Robert, son of the above, who died of wounds in France, January 13th 1917 aged 25 years.'
