Albert Cuthbert was born in 1883 at Hyson Green his father the late George Cuthbert a beer house keeper was born in 1851 at Elkington, Leicestershire, he died in 1900 aged 49 yrs. His father was married 3 times, his first wife was Susanna Leggett was born in 1852 she died in 1878 after giving birth to their daughter Gertrude Annie in 1878. His second wife (Albert's mother) was Annie Maria Stevenson born 1857 at Hyson Green, they were married in 1881 at Nottingham and had two other children, George Frederick b1882 and Annie Maria born 1884, Annie Maria died in 1892 aged 35 yrs. His third wife was Martha East Burrell born 1867 whom he married in 1893 at Nottingham, he had two children with her George Harold b1895 and Stanley Thomas b 1898. In 1911 the family lived at 67 Radford Road, Hyson Green and were shown as Martha East Cuthbert 42 yrs a widow and licensed victualler, she is living with her stepson Albert Edwin Cuthbert 28 yrs a manager and her two sons George Harold 16 yrs and Stanley Thomas 13 yrs.

Military History

Private Albert Edwin Cuthbert, served with the 18th Battalion Australian Imperial Force, he was reported wounded and missing, later presumed killed in action on 22nd August 1915. He is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial.
