Joseph William Perry was born in 1889. He married Emma Lizzie Dykes (b.1891 also Sneinton) on 8th October 1910. In 1911 they lodged at 103 Manvers Street, Nottingham with Frederick and Lucy Keeling and their two children Fred and Edith. Joseph and Emma’s daughter Winifred was born 25/2/1914 and they lived at 3, Rock Terrace, Manvers Street. Following Joseph’s death Emma was paid a weekly pension of 15 shillings for herself and daughter. She was then residing at 135 Pym Street, Gordon Road, Nottingham.
Joseph William Perry enlisted at Nottingham on 22nd May 1915. He landed in France on 6th March 1916. He is buried in Guards Cemetery, Windy Corner, Cuinchy, Grave Reference III.S.11
In memoriam published 26th May 1917 in the Nottingham Evening Post: 'PERRY. – In loving memory of my dear husband, William Perry, who was killed in action May 26th, 1916. Duty nobly done.
