He was the son of George Henry and Mary Elizabeth Browne and the brother of Elsie, Ethel, Ernest and Florence Browne. In 1911 they lived at 11 Rushton Terrace Twells Street and later 40 Dunscombe Street St Ann's Well Road (both St Ann's Nottingham).
