John William Hutchinson

John was the son of John and Rose Hutchinson (née Housden). His father was born in Carlton in about 1871 and his mother in Arnold, Nottingham, in about 1872. They were married at Sneinton St Stephen in November 1897 and had two sons, John William b. 1897 bap. St Stephen 22 November 1897, and Harry b. 1901 d. 1902 (reg. A/M/J). John, a cutter in the cardboard trade, and Rose were living at Thoresby Place, Sneinton, when their son John was baptised in 1897 but had moved to 3 Beaumont Street, Sneinton, by 1901. John snr. probably died in 1902 (reg. J/F/M) and his second son Harry died a few months later before his first birthday. In 1911 Rose was living at 178 Carlton Hill, Carlton, and recorded on the census as a confectioner and tobacconist on her own account. In the home on the night of the census were her surviving son John, who was still at school, her widowed father William, a market gardener (worker at wholesale market garden), unmarried sister Florrie Annie Housden, a housemaid (domestic) and a boarder, Percy Trower, a drayman. The CWGC record gives Rose's address as 110 Carlton Hill, Carlton, and she was still living there when she died in 1929.
