George Robinson was born in 1889 at Nottingham and was the son eldest of Thomas a coach painter and Hannah Robinson née Hooper, of 21, Sketchley Street, Blue Bell Hill, Nottingham. His father Thomas was born in 1865 at Radford, his mother Hannah Hooper was born in 1865 at Carlton, they were married in 1888 their marriage was recorded in the Nottingham Registration district, they went on to have 3 children, George b1889, William Henry b1893 and Mary b1899, all were born in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 22 Ebenezer Square, Clarence Street, Nottingham and are shown as Thomas 46 yrs a coach painter, he is living with his wife Hannah 46 yrs and their children, George 22 yrs a guillotine cutter, William Henry 18 yrs a paste board maker and Mary 12 yrs a scholer.
Private George Robinson, enlisted at Nottingham on 3rd October 1915, he gave his age as 26 yrs and 5 months and his address as 21 Sketchley Street, Nottingham he served with the 3/8th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was admitted to hospital at Grantham on 29th November 1915 with bronchitis and acute rheumatism and died on 11th December 1915. He is buried at Nottingham General Cemetery where his name is commemorated on the screen wall.
His brother Private William Harry Robinson enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 16th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was killed in action on 20th September 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial
