He was the son of J H Ball of 50 Leicester Street Nottingham.
Transferred to (16243) Labour Corps. He died of pneumonia on 24 October 1918 and was buried in Nottingham General Cemetery on 30 October (grave ref. 4637).

The funeral of Lieut. Sidney Wade, Sherwood Foresters, the son of Mr and Mrs CH Wade, Mount Hooton-road, Nottingham, who died in hospital from pneumonia at Towcester, on Sunday, took place in the Nottingham General Cemetery ... Two Nottingham soldiers were buried to-day with full military honours. They were Privates RN Ball, Labour Corps, aged 34, of Leicester-street, and Cecil WG Bush, of Loughborough-road. Both died of pneumonia. The last-named being on board a hospital ship.’
