Family History

Christopher Lewis was born in 1898 the son of Robert a colliery banksman and his first wife the late Agnes Shooter. Robert was born in 1859 at Ironville, Agnes Shooter was born in 1863 at Pinxton, she died in 1893 aged 29 yrs they were married on 27th September 1884 at Mansfield, they had 3 children Robert Archibald and Christopher all of whom were born in Rotherham. Robert later lived with Eleanor Rhoda Brown born 1878 at Newark with whom he had the following children, Emma b1901, Elsie b1903, Victor b1905, Gerald b1908 and Walter b1911, he married Eleanor Rhoda Brown in 1913 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district. In 1911 the family lived at The Cescent Selston .

Military History

Gunner Christopher Lewis enlisted at Mansfield whilst residing at Selston he was killed in action on 21st March 1918 and is buried at Waincourt British Cemetery.
