Family History

Tom Dale was born in 1886 the son of Thomas Dale a general labourer and Mary Ann Dale née Woolley of 23 Howard Street Nottingham. His parents, both born at Nottingham in 1859, were married in 1877. They had six children two of whom died in infancy prior to 1911. Tom’s surviving siblings were Harry b.1881, Lucy b.1888 and Fred b.1892. In 1911 the family lived at 23 Howard Street Nottingham. Tom in 1911 lived at 22 Cathcart Street St Ann’s Nottingham with Millicent Handley (b. 1887) his housekeeper who became his sole legatee.

Military History

Tom enlisted at Nottingham landing in France on 3rd November 1915. He was subsequently transferred to the Persian Gulf Mesopotamia where he was killed in action on 6th April 1916.
