Born 1892 Nottingham the son of John & Eliza Carrington. His Father worked at a Lace factory as a brass winder and in 1901 the family were living at 45 North Ville Street, Nottingham. They were still there in 1911 but by then his Mother had died. Henry had three younger brothers and a younger sister Ada who died aged 6 in 1905. Henry had left school by 1911 and was a Meat Salesman. In 1912 he married Fanny Whitchurch and they had two children, a daughter Ada born 1912 and a son John born 1914. By the time Henry had enlisted the family had moved to live in Gedling
Henry enlisted at Nottingham. He embarked for France 7 June 1915. He died of his wounds and is buried at the Abbeville Communal Cemetery Extension, France. He was eligible for the 1915 Star, Victory and British medals
The CWWG site states that he was of the 2nd Battalion whereas the Gedling church war memorial states 8th Battalion
