Family History

Sidney Adams was born in 1897 he was the son of George a colliery deputy manager and Eleanor Adams née Harby and the brother of William Poole, Bernard, Sadie, Cyril, Julia and Dorothy Eleanor Adams. George was born in 1864, Eleanor Hardy was born in 1862 both were born in Selston, they were married on 12th April 1888 at St Helen's Church, Selston, they went on to have 10 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family were living at Selston, George 47 yrs is a colliery deputy manager, he is living with his wife Eleanor 49 yrs and 7 of their children, including Sidney 14 yrs a coal miner.

Military History

Private Sidney Adams, enlisted at Eastwood, Nottinghamshire. whilst residing at Selston. He died of Wounds at No. 62 Casualty Clearing Station at Bandaghem on 16th April 1918 and is buried Haringhe (Bandaghem) Military Cemetery, Belgium. Plot 2. Row D, Grave 8.
