William Horace Allcock

William Horace Allcock was born in 1889 at Clipstone and was the son of John a farm labourer and Eliza Allcock née Hill of Clipstone. His father John was born in 1849 at Clipstone, his mother Eliza Hill was born in 1849 at Edwinstow, they were married in 1873 their marriage was recorded in the Southwell registration area, they went on to have the following children, Mary Ann Edith b1877, Elizabeth Agnes b1880, John Frederick b1883 and William Horace b1889 all were born at Clipstone. In the 1911 census William Horace is shown living at 90 High Street, Clowne, he is shown as being ' Horace' a boarder, 22 yrs of age , single and a railway clerk, he is living with Charles Borrows 33 yrs a railway platelayer and his wife Emma Jane 35 yrs. In the same 1911 census his parents are living at Clipstone and are shown as John 62 yrs a farm labourer, he is living with his wife Eliza 62 yrs and their daughter Elizabeth Agnes 31 yrs no occupation listed. His probate was proven(with will) on 13th June 1917 at Nottingham, it shows him as William Horace Allcock of Clipstone, a Private in H.M.Army died 4th March 1917 in France, his effects of £304, 14 shillings and 9 pence were left to Eliza Allcock wife of John Allcock.
