Fred was born in 1887 at Nwark and was the son of the late Thomas a joiner and Jane Ann Parker néé Oliver of 28 Albion Street, Newark. His father Thomas was born in 1848 at Newark and died in 1902 in Newark aged 57 yrs and his mother Jane Ann Oliver was born in 1848 at Bennington, Lincolnshire, they were married in 1870 at Newark and went on to have the following children all of whom were born in Newark, Elizabeth b1870, Minnie b1875, Alice b1877, John b1879, May b1881, Tom b1885, Fred b1887. Fred married his wife Emma Pask in 1913 in Newark, they lived at 2, James Row, Millgate, Newark, Notts, they went on to have a son Fred born in 1913 at Newark
Private Fred Parker enlisted at Newark and served with the 10th battalion, Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was killed in action on 26th August 1918 and having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Vis En Artois Memorial, France , Panel 7
Article published 23rd October 1918 in the Newark Advertiser :- Resided with wife, Emma Parker and two young sons at 2 James Row, Millgate, Newark. As a boy attended Christ Church School. One of the dwindling band of heroes, who in August 1914 marched out of the Market Place with the 8th Sherwood Foresters. Had spent three years in France, where he was twice wounded, on April 17th, 1916 and in March 1918. Went out for the third time in July and killed in action on August 26th.
