Family History

Albert Shelton was born in 1886 at Nottingham. He married Selina Metcalf (born 16th July 1884) in 1905 at Nottingham, they lived at 5 Hartwell Street, Nottingham, and had sons Albert Edward born 27th May 1908, Frederick born 18th June 1910 and Leslie born 6th August 1914. In 1911 the family lived at 3 St Ann's Cottages Peas Hill Road St Ann's Nottingham. Albert 25 yrs is a coal carter, living with his wife Selina 25 yrs and their two sons Albert Edward 2 yrs and Frederick 9 months. Commencing 29th January 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 6 pence a week.

Military History

Private Albert Shelton enlisted at Nottingham, he was killed in action on 4th June 1916, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
