Family History

He was the son of Ernest, a bricklayer’s labourer, and Mary Ann Allsopp. He was the brother of May, Elizabeth, Hannah, Mary, Gertrude, Ernest and Elsie Allsopp. In 1901 they lived at 22 Calcutta Street and in 1911 at 10 Belle Vue Road (both Nottingham). CWGC shows parents address as 181 Carlton Hill, Nottingham.

Military History

Private Harry Randolph Allsopp, enlisted at Nottingham and initially served with the service number 27944 in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was serving with the 13th Battalion Royal Scots, when he was killed in action on 15th November 1917. He is buried in Level Crossing Cemetery, Fampoux.

In memoriam published 15th November 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “ALLSOPP. – In loving memory of our dear son, Harry Allsopp, Royal Scots, killed in action November 15th, 1917.
