Family history

Henry Beeson Cross was born in 1897 at Nottingham, he was the son of Henry a supply association collector and Eliza Hannah Cross née Beeson and the brother of Edith, Linda, Cyril, George, William, Florence and Leslie Cross.

His father Henry Cross was born in 1871 at Nottingham, his mother Eliza Hannnah Beeson was born in 1869 at Derby, they were married 1890 at Nottingham, they went on to have 8 children.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 111 Sneinton Boulevard Nottingham, Henry 40 yrs is a supply assosciation collector he is living with his wife Eliza 40 yrs and their 8 children, including Henry Beeson 14 yrs an errand boy,

Military history

Private Henry Beeson Cross enlisted at Nottingham he served with the 1/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he went to France on 25th February 1915. He was killed in action, 1st July 1916, during the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.

Buried: Gommecourt Wood New Cemetery, Foncquevillers, France. Plot 2. Row D. Grave 8.
