Family History

Horace Arnold Robinson was born in 1899 at Widmerpool and was the son of Thomas Jones and his first wife the late Harriett Robinson née Shaw of 5 Robey Terrace Hyson Green Nottingham. His father Thomas Jones Robinson was born in 1868 at Flore, Northamptonshire and his mother Harriet Shaw was born in 1874 in Nottinghamshire, she died in 1905 aged 41 yrs, they were married in 1894 their marriage was recorded in the Loughborough registration district, they had another child a daughter Edith born 1896 also at Widmerpool. His father later re married in 1906 at Nottingham to Annie Elizabeth Parker b1874 at Mount Street, Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 5 Robey Street, Hyson Green, Nottingham and are shown as Thomas Jones a groom, he is living with his second wife Annie Elizabeth 37 yrs and their son Horace Arnold 12 yrs of age.

Military History

Pte. Horace Arnold Robinson, Royal Fusiliers, attached 2nd Battalion London Regiment, was killed in action on 6th November 1918. He is buried in Angreau Communal Cemetery.
