Walter Geary was born in 1893 the son of Arthur a lace maker and Matilda Emily Geary (née Saxton). His father was born in 1866 at Wolverton, Buckinghamshire and his mother in 1870 at Heanor, Derbyshire. They were married in 1892 in Nottingham and had a further son Arthur born in 1898 in Nottingham. In 1911, they lived at 15, Kirkstead Street, Hyson Green, Nottingham.
Walter Geary enlisted at Nottingham was killed in action during a raid preceded by heavy shelling. He is buried in St. Vaast Post Military Cemetery, Richebourg-L'Avoue, Grave Reference: III J 7
