Family History

Frank Beeson was born in 1893 he was the son of the late James a coal dealer and the late Harriett Beeson née Drake of 30 Hornbuckle Street Radford Nottingham and the brother of Percy, Albert and Ruth Beeson. James was born in 1869 at Stonebroom, Derbyshire he died in 1910 aged 41 yrs, Harriett Drake was born in 1873 at Eastwood she died in 1921 aged 48 yrs, they were married in 1890 at Nottinghamshire, they went on to have 4 children. In 1911 the family are living at 25 Auckland Street, Radford, Harriett 38 yrs is a widow and lace hand, she is living with her children, Frank 18 yrs a labourer, Percy 16 yrs an errand boy, Albert 8 yrs and Ruth 3 yrs.

Military History

Private Frank Beeson, was called up on 30th March 1916 and enlisted at Derby he was 22 yrs and 174 days and a cotton spinner and initially served with service number 8124 with the West Riding Regiment . He embarked from Folkstone on 3rd October 1916 disembarking the same day at Boulogne, he arrived at Etaples Depot on 4th October and lwas transferred to the 13th battalion York and Lancaster Regiment . He was killed in action on 25th March 1918 and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.

In memoriam published 25th March 1919 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “BEESON. – In loving memory of Pte. Frank Beeson, killed in action March 25th, 1918. Far from our home, but always in our hearts. – Mother, brothers, sister, and Thurza. “BEESON. – In loving memory of Pte. F. Beeson, killed in action March 25th, 1918.
